No one thinks about the complexity
of what it takes to be a person.
It is so hard to wake from the perplexity.
Will we let our beings worsen?
What will living this life take?
In a blurred sea of endless confusion,
will we just let our bodies shake?
We hide our reality in a deep illusion.
Anger, shame, and anguish, we feel it all.
Are we losing ourselves in this storm
as we watch the darkness fall?
Or are we trying to find our true form?
Amongst the crashing waves, we are blind
until we take hold of our own connection.
A connection to this world in which we are defined.
Found, you may see, so add this trial to the collection.
Definition of self is not through serenity.
Through hardship, through tears, we are revealed.
In a blurred sea of endless trials, we find identity.
So embrace the storm, throw down that shield.
We must understand what it takes to become somebody.
We must embrace this reality filled with complexity.

There’s a tear between each smile and a fracture on my heart
And a thousand feelings breaking me and tearing me apart
Knowing when it’s over I may lose my sanity
Embrace the mess I am and the storm inside of me
In the dark I have a chance to fight away my problems
To ignore them all away instead of trying to solve them
All I saw when I looked back was a mass of insecurity
Laying waste to who I am and ripping at the seam
Lowering my already non-existent self-esteem
And I couldn’t help admitting I’m a self-made failure
Walking a broken path as a second-hand savior
And it all adds up to nothing; me in a nutshell
